Here's a very elegant Keyring and Knife combination Keychain. This beautiful compact key ring will serve two purposes. (1) It will serve as a real nice key ring that is not cumbersome . (2) It will also convert from a key ring to a pocket knife in seconds! Just thread off the tip, turn it, and thread it back in to reveal a high-quality stainless steel blade. The blade has a straight grind with a serrated portion for cutting operations that benefit from a sawing action.

I used white oak blanks that are made from whiskey barrels once used by the Wild Turkey Distillery. These charred white oak whiskey barrels are used to age the whiskey for at least 4 years. The barrels are then salvaged , the steel bands are remove and then the staves are disassemble . The staves are cut into over-sized pen blanks. I include a Certificate of Authenticity for each combination keychain.

The fun part comes next , when I start turning the handle and profile it to blend with the chrome finish on the hardware. As I'm turning each piece, I smell the sweet aromatic blend of whiskey as it leaves the charred piece of white oak. The smell is so smooth and sweet and leaves the shop smelling wonderful. I then sand the handle with multiple grits between 120 to 12000. Following: An ultra shine paste is used before I complete the handle with a friction polish. Finally the handle is buffed with a generous amount of a blend of micro-crystalline "fossil" wax , that is highly resistant to moisture, fingerprints and heat.
